Walsall Arboretum, Walsall – Country Park Accessible Path (3) (008159)

Walsall Council’s Healthy Spaces Team is responsible for developing and improving the parks and green spaces in Walsall, encouraging people of all ages to access these spaces to help improve their health. One of the parks which the team is responsible for is Walsall Arboretum – Walsall’s flagship park. The park provides a green link from Walsall Town Centre through the Country Park onto the canal network. The link to the Rushall Canal from the park is currently inaccessible to wheelchair users and difficult to access by bike from within the park. This prevents many park visitors including wheelchair users and those with poor mobility, young families and bikes from accessing the miles of traffic free routes available from the Arboretum. The aim of this project is to therefore create an accessible path linking the canal to the main path in the country park. Installing this new path will provide direct step free access to the canal towpaths which isn’t currently possible.
