War Memorial Playing Field, Chilbolton – New Play Equipment (1888/D)

The aim is to provide a play area for the benefit of the community of Chilbolton. There are no facilities for children & young people. The Playing Field currently has 2 football pitches and a very old pavilion. It is under-utilised at present, but is a great asset to the village. The land is adjacent to the Common an area of special scientific interest, with the River Test running through. The Commons committee have already sourced funds to do some tree planting on the playing field and have put a rustic table and bench there to encourage families to picnic. The footpath to the playing field is being upgraded and when complete will be usable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. There are currently 2 kissing gates onto the playing field these will be replaced with wheelchair accessible gates. By adding some play equipment this we believe will transform the site and make it a place where people will want to stop and play and enjoy the views onto the common. The Trust grant will contribute towards the play equipment.
