Wargrave Cricket Club Solar Installation

This project is to introduce solar panels to a single storey south facing roof slope of Wargrave Cricket Club pavilion.
The Cricket Club supports boys, girls, men and women’s cricket in the community. In addition to serving the local village of Wargrave, it also attracts players from the larger settlements of Reading and Maidenhead
nearby. The Club has grown notably in recent years and has increased its connection with the community, putting on festivals with free access to all, hosting charity events without charge, and putting on entertainment
evenings at the Club, in addition to the coaching of cricket and matches taking place. They have over 150 children registered at the Club, 5 Mens teams and 3 Womens teams.
The Club has made a pledge to improve its impact on the environment and have instigated the introduction of a new hedgerow (with help from the Woodland Trust) next to one of the pitches and are now keen to go
further and introduce Solar Panels to the Pavilion.
The Panels can be introduced to an ideal existing roof slope – a single storey south facing pitched roof. They will not be obvious within views of the adjacent Recreation Ground. The Panels will enable electricity costs to be reduced in the building. Such costs have become a significant part of expenses in recent years, and the Club will be able to re-direct expenditure to other areas to the benefit of the children and adults who are involved with the Club, and the wider community. For example, there will be a larger budget available towards kit and equipment or reduced hire rates for using the Pavilion.
