Waringstown Cricket Club - Purchase of a Robotic Mower

Waringstown Cricket Club is applying for support to purchase and install a Kress Robotic Mower to maintain our playing surfaces and outfield. This project will transform the way we manage our grounds, improve the quality and safety of our playing facilities, and reduce the heavy reliance on volunteer labour and petrol-powered equipment.

Waringstown Cricket Club , a volunteer-led organisation, has a rich history and a vital role at the heart of local sport, recreation, and community life. The club is widely recognised for its high-quality playing surface and welcoming atmosphere, where individuals of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds are encouraged to participate and feel included.
Beyond competitive cricket, the club offers a supportive environment for young people to build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and stay active. The grounds also serve as a valued community space, regularly hosting charity fundraisers, social events, and local gatherings.

This project will support the purchase of a Robotic Mower to maintain the playing surface and outfield. The new equipment will significantly enhance grounds management, improve safety for players, and reduce reliance on manual labour and petrol-powered machinery, ensuring a more sustainable and efficient approach for the future.

By delivering consistent, high-quality maintenance of the outfield, the robotic mower will enhance the visual appeal and safety of the playing surfaces, improving the experience for all users, including local schools and community groups. The shift from petrol-powered equipment to electric mowing will reduce noise and air pollution, contributing to a more pleasant environment for neighbours and visitors.

The club serves approximately 300 members, including senior teams, a thriving youth section, and a growing women’s programme, all of whom will benefit directly from improved facilities. The grounds are actively used by 5–6 local schools for coaching and competitions, and regularly host community events, fundraisers, and open days, reflecting strong engagement across the wider area. Volunteers play a central role in maintaining the grounds and delivering programmes, and the project will enable them to redirect their efforts toward coaching and community development.

There is a clear and well-structured plan in place to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project. The club’s elected management committee, supported by a dedicated grounds team, has extensive experience in delivering and maintaining capital projects. The robotic mower is a low-maintenance, energy-efficient solution that reduces fuel costs and servicing demands. The club have also budgeted for ongoing maintenance and replacement parts. Insurance and secure storage arrangements are in place to protect the asset and regular servicing will be scheduled to ensure reliability. The Robotic mower will be stored at the Club's ground and when it's not in use, it will safely locked in their clubhouse.
