Warton Crag Fritillary Project

The Project will target two of the north-west's key butterfly species, including the High Brown Fritillary, Britain's most endangered butterfly. It will build on past work undertaken by Lancashire Wildlife Trust to manage for these two species by coppicing and clearing on Warton Crag, one of the key sites within the Morecambe Bay limestone's complex for these butterflies, creating new habitat and putting in place a network of rides, to link areas of existing habitat. The project will also work with both the RSPB and Butterfly Conservation to link in with the work they have been undertaking in the local area.
