Weardale Open Air Swimming Pool Association

The Weardale Open Air Swimming Pool Association aims to establish and maintain an open-air swimming pool for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Stanhope and Weardale area. Opened in 1974, and well enjoyed and supported it is the only public heated open-air pool in the County.
During the 2006 season the concrete surround under the edge of the pool broke away resulting in the handrails becoming detached. Due to Health and Safety reasons the pool will not be able to reopen in 2007 if the repairs are not carried out.
The group is requesting funding towards the total cost of the repairs, with the remaining balance due to come from Stanhope Parish Council.
