Weir Today Gone Tomorrow (Hithermoor Weir)

The free movement of fish in the Colne Catchment is prevented by the presence of barriers to fish migration, such as weirs. This prevents certain species from completing their life cycles and accessing the habitats they require to thrive.
We have identified a key barrier to fish migration in the Lower River Colne, that we intend to rectify by installing a fish pass. The installation of the fish pass will allow fish to access an additional 1.73km of valuable habitat.
Capital works will be undertaken by a specialist contractor, overseen by our Rivers Project Manager for The Colne Catchment.
