Welcome to Woodston Ponds

Woodston Ponds nature reserve is well-used by local people due to its central Peterborough location but its boardwalk is in urgent need of repair due to damage from flooding and vandalism as well as general wear and tear, and its reedbed, lake and tree habitats are in need of restoration to enhance the wildlife spectacle for visitors.

The site was leased (999 years) to the Wildlife Trust BCN in 2003. We installed water management systems to feed the reedbeds and built a circular boardwalked footpath. It opened to the public in 2004.

Local people have told us that they value the site for its accessibility and the opportunity to get up close to wildlife. A network of paths runs through the different habitats and the reedbed – is easily accessible by wheelchairs and pushchairs. It is vital that it is kept in good condition to maintain welcoming access for all.
