Wellacre Country Park, Trafford – Access Improvements

This project will increase the community’s access to Wellacre Park resulting in a happier, healthier community, with stronger bonds and an increased connection to nature.

A study done in partnership with the University of Manchester found that, although this area is well used and valued by the community, it is difficult to navigate and there are access barriers due to a lack of footpaths and insufficient signage.

We will install signage, maps and interpretation to increase resident’s knowledge of Wellacre. Renewed footpaths and waymarked routes will improve people’s confidence to visit the site. This will allow residents of all ages and abilities to access the park, which will benefit the physical and mental wellbeing of the community.

We will train and enthuse residents to carry out habitat management works at volunteer days, further building their connection to the area. We will also restore key habitats so that they provide maximum biodiversity value.
