West Brompton Station Wetlands

We will improve the biodiversity and attractiveness of a wetlands next to West Brompton Station. The space has good potential for wildlife, but the pond is clogged with azolla, an invasive water plant, rubbish is building up, and thick vegetation is reducing the groundflora at the site, which is needed for shelter and food by many species.
With this project, we will remove the azolla from the main pond, pollard trees overhanging the pond, remove rubbish, shore up the bank alongside the water filled ditch, thin vegetation, de-silt channels to enable water to flow better, sow wild flowers, and install interpretation signs.
