West Deeping Village Hall Floor Renewal

The existing wood block floor, believed to date from the 1930’s is failing. The sub floor bituminous damp proof layer is breaking down resulting in damp and bitumen penentration of tiles and a separation from the sub floor evidenced by loose and lifting tiles. This on-going deterioration was identified in the condition statement attached to the Lease renewal of 2007.
The applicants do not consider partial repair and replacement to be a viable option in view of the progressive nature of the deterioration. Accordingly they plan to employ a flooring contractor to lift and dispose of the old floor (67 sq. metres), make good the sub floor structure as required, install appropriate screeds/damp proof membranes, a 5mm insulated cushion layer and an engineered wood floor of similar colour and pattern to the existing.
