West Park South Shields – Treasured Space

We believe that people everywhere and of every age need places to treasure. Whether its a place to kick a football about, a place to relax, or a place to have fun. Not everyone is getting the benefit of good outside space. Some people are missing out and some communities just don’t have any green space to treasure. We are running a campaign to encourage more people to get involved with supporting and improving local treasured spaces. West Park South Shields is located in a highly urban area within South Tyneside. The park is bordered by schools, a small shopping area, and high density domestic dwellings. The park has had reduced investment over a number of decades and houses a former Lodge that has been subject to on going anti social behaviour. In partnership with the local authority we will develop an Urban Sports area that will be the first of its kind in the borough, designed in consultation with young people.
