Westwood Biodiversity and public access

Westwood is a small wood on the weston shore in Southampton, on the fringes of a large urban conurbation. It contains some areas of high value biodiversity and is adjacent to a SSSI on the foreshore. The wood is subject to various kinds of antisocial behaviour, which impacts on biodiversity and discourages wider use of the wood.

The project aims to zone high value biodiversity areas in the wood to protect them, draw attention away from the SSSI and encourage a wider use of the wood, whilst at the same time reducing anti social behaviour.
