Wetheral Platinum Jubilee Churchyard Path

The path initiative has 3 threads:-

First was to improve accessibility to the church and grounds as the present path is granite gravel. It is difficult to navigate for wheelchair users, walking frame users, parent with pushchairs and anyone not too steady on their feet.

Secondly, the idea of creating a lasting legacy for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee during 2022 was considered. There will be art work stones in the path depicting local history and the journey from the birth of Christ to the 2022 Platinum Jubilee.

Thirdly the site has a very rich historical asset that is brought to life by the living and active church.

The three themes come together, like a Celtic Weave, that will produce a practical piece of work
