Additional biodiversity works at Westhay Moor NNR to fence an area of mire habitat to allow conservation grazing by Exmoor Ponies, reed cutting to create habitat successions good for wildlife and purchase of equipment to monitor changes in hydrology to support ecological interventions and for volunteer management of boggy areas of the reserve. Fencing across a 600m area will be installed to help manage 12 hectares of mire for conservation grazing – to be completed by staff and volunteers.’ Bog mats will be purchased to allow access to wet ground and a laser level purchased for staff and volunteers to monitor land changes following rewetting as part of ongoing management.
