Wetlands and High Hides

This project will move aprroximately 20,000 tons of earth to create new habitats suitable for supporting populations of species such as wading birds, kingfishers and the nationally important Great Crested Grebe by: demolishing an island to create a shingle bank, demolishing an existing earth bund to create shallows, ponds and scrapes, reprofiling the bank to provide a more natural transition through to reedbeds and open water. Creating open mud flats as an attractive habitat for wading birds, creating vertical banks suitable for kingfishers. Finally this project will install a 6m ‘High Hide’ for visitors to gain a unique view of wildlife without causing a disturbance
