The Centre provides facilities and services enabling the delivery of training courses, presentations, conferences and meetings social/recreational to benefit all the community, achieved by working in partnership with a number of agencies on projects based in and around the centre. The centre was the former village miner’s welfare hall, which has undergone a lot of modernisation.
The funding will purchase trees and benches to complete the community garden, situated in the grounds. It has been designed to enhance the community centre and provide an area which can be used to increase the facilities of the centre whilst being a tranquil place to sit and relax. There are eight acres of land in total and the community garden. There are five phases of development, with the community garden being the fourth. The group wish to purchase eight avenue trees and six benches to create an avenue within phase four of the project.
