Wheldrake Floodplain Meadows Project

Wheldrake Ings Nature Reserve is an internationally important nature reserve, with floodplain meadows and open water habitats. Lack of infrastructure for grazing mean that the best management practise for this UK BAP habitat is not always easy to put in place. This project will allow us to put the necessary infrastructure in place in order to carry out aftermath grazing and monitoring, as part of the project, will feedback into the management. In addition, the reprofiling of the large pool edge adjacent to the meadows will increase the breeding success of wader species which rely on the meadows in the spring months and feed on invertebrates in areas of exposed mud.
