When Arkwright Met Strutt; Creating a Cotton Spinning Legacy

To engage a larger audience with Strutt & Arkwright, how together they transformed the world beginning with the Derwent Valley and reaching a global scale. This project will bring to life Arkwright & Strutt as they tell the story of their inventions and contributions to the industrial revolution. It will also give a voice to the people directly impacted by their inventions and ideas – those who worked in their factories & lived in their settlements. This will encourage discussions about the positive and negative changes that their work had upon the world and the impact that it still has today. The show will form part of a visitor and schools programme. The collections and stories will be more accessible. The project will convey stories that are not already covered in our existing interpretation and bring these characters to life will draw on information in the archives which is not currently on public display to create the narrative and imagery for the film show
