Whinfield Paths, Rugby - Footpath improvements (0074100

The existing pathways through Whinfield Recreation Ground and Whinfield Wood suffer from poor condition, often with flowing or standing water blocking paths, making them boggy, slippy and unsafe, preventing many people from using them at all for much of the year and during wet spells. Despite this poor and often impassable condition, the routes are highly popular for walking, dog walking, jogging, cycling, enjoying nature, are used for Rugby Parkrun, and for local journeys to schools, allotments, shops, and routes to Rugby train station. This project will improve the paths to resolve the drainage and wear issues to make them more inclusive, attractive and safer ensuring they can be used by all, in all weather conditions, and year round. This will further increase use, encourage more walking and cycling reducing CO2 and pollution, protect habitats from damage, and offer major environmental and health and well being benefits.
