Whinfield Recreation Ground – QEII Field

Protected in 2013, and 9.4 hectares in size, the site is well used by Hillmorton FC, who play on the many pitches and there is a weekly Parkrun. It is also popular for dog walking and general walking around the circular routes. The project will address numerous issues which are preventing access to the site excluding users and not very inclusive, and/or present hazards to park users including people taking part in parkrun, and local residents travelling through the site to/from Eastlands School, local shops or to the train station.The works will benefit all park users by removing obstructions to use of the site, and reducing hazards that may deter or injure park users, encouraging greater use and increasing residents’ physical and mental health through exercise in attractive green space.The works will also improve the pedestrian and cycle route used for off road away from traffic routes.
