Whitaker Park – Making Play a Priority

Whitaker Park is a district park situated in the Heart of Rossendale.
We aim to improve this park in a phased 3 year programme of work and achieve green flag status by 2010. Phase 1 will upgrade the toddler play facilities and also introduce natural play opportunities for children. There will be an innovative and futuristic approach to the play facilities which will include a sand-pit, boulders for climbing, new play equipment and free- play equipment made from timber. The natural play element will introduce measured risk encouraging children to explore their natural environment promoting imaginative play.
