White Rocks Nature Reserve – Woodland, glade, scrub and capped landfill management for rare flora and invertebrates

Aims:
a) To manage the grassland on the capped landfill, the calcareous grassland and woodland glades for species such as rock rose, pyramidal orchid bee orchid, rare grizzled skipper and marbled white butterflies.
b) To manage by coppicing areas within the woodland, to create more open, permeable conditions and increase diversity. This will benefit pearl bordered fritillary and wood white butterflies present on site.
c) to manage ride-sides, hedgerows and woodland edge scrub by helping to reduce the shading caused by overhanging branches.
