Whitehall Road, Leeds – New Riverside Pocket Park

We and our project partners (Whitehall Riverside Environment Forum, Leeds City Council and the landowner, the Canal & River Trust) wish to establish a completely new Pocket Park in the long strip of scrub land sandwiched between the River Aire and the towpath of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal on the western fringe of Leeds City Centre. This will provide a fantastic landscaped environment alongside the river, next to a well used pedestrian route and close to the new multi-storey flats and other recent housing developments either side of Whitehall Road – a destination for residents/visitors to socialise in and feel part of a real, living, breathing community. The new Pocket Park will be a lovely tranquil area of nature, with high quality surfaced footpaths, 2 fully accessible entrances, robust seating, an artwork feature, signage and spaces in between the attractive new trees, shrub beds and wildflower areas for picnics (with picnic tables), exercise and other informal group activities.
