Whitley Bay Young People’s Centre

The Centre was established in 1964 and is a registered charity. Despite its name it caters for people of all ages offering activities such as martial arts classes, keep fit sessions, and has provisions for adult education classes, a creche, and runs a football team, rugby league teams, and it has a weekly drop in session for multiple sclerosis sufferers, it also runs two after school clubs, plus a youth club three nights per week. In addition it provides over night hostel accomodation which is used by people from all over the world. It is run by a managment committee of nine people and employs one full time and one part time member of staff. Its main income is from sessional fees, and hostel charges.
