Whittlefield Canal Improvements

This project aims to improve an area of land, walkway and canal which is currently neglected. Through the involvement of the local community ideas have been developed to enhance this area. These include:
1) Litterpick
2) towpath improvements
3) Boundary improvements
4) Tree thinning
5) Arts workshops artwork for the Tunnel Street & Pendle Way entrances.
6) Bulb, shrub and wild flower planting – organised with young people from Stepping Stones Building to increase biodiversity along the canal.
The works will target the involvement of young people and enable those getting involved to achieve AQA awards for project participants – giving young people new skills and formal qualifications.
