Whitwell Play & Grow

Whitwell is an area of Elland (an outlying township of Halifax) 'cut off' from the rest of the town by the major bypass linking Halifax and Huddersfied. An area of social housing, it overlooks one of the major industrial parks on the M62 corridor. It has several large (inter-linked) underdeveloped, underused and unispiring area of grass/tarmac ripe for development as a multi-functional community space. Groups of local residents have come together as "Whitwell Play & Grow" to work with Calderdale Council and Pennine Housing to develope an enhanced public open space (play, ball games and community growing areas) appealing to all ages of local residents.
