Wigton Baths – Energy Efficiency

Due to public support Wigton Baths have been saved from closure and the asset signed over to the community from Cumbria County Council. The Wigton Baths Trust took ownership in March 2014. The Trust wants to showcase energy saving measures in a challenging environment – an Edwardian structure providing a regulated activity (it must operate between 25-28 degrees with lighting levels of 300-500 lux) – but an environment which is well used, 2009 people in September 2015.

The Trust will install a range of energy saving measures – insulation, double glazing, and fit a fibre glass quilt. Desktop thermal simulation modelling has helped identify the temperature and heat gains and losses and where energy efficiency measures could be targeted to reduce usage and environmental impact producing 20% reduction
