Wigton Rugby Pitch Drainage

The aim of this project is to provide a sports pitch suitable for Rugby Union. This will allow for the pitch to be used on a more regular basis, through the installation of a drainage system.

At present, there is no drainage to the main pitch resulting in constant flooding problems, which in turn leads to matches being cancelled. This also results in a lack of opportunity for adults and youth teams to play sport.

The group have already undertaken huge renovation projects at a cost of £114,879. Works already undertaken include roof, internal refurbishment, gym, boiler and installation of a wind turbine, which since April 2009 has saved 2171 kg of CO2 and generated 3810 kwh.
