Wild about Kennington Verge Restoration

We aim to establish more wildflowers, thereby providing colour in the highly visible road verges in the centre of our village along The Avenue (OX1 5QZ) and in an out-of-play corner of the Forest Side public playing field (OX1 5LQ).
The wildflowers will enhance the biodiversity of the area.
– The Avenue is the main road in the village, so the verges are seen by everybody driving, cycling and walking through Kennington or in and out of the village towards Abingdon or Oxford.
– The Forest Side playing field includes a playground, a small bicycle loop and a large grassy area used to play football. It is also on the way to one of the entrances to Bagley Woods, so many dog walkers and others pass through.
We will be training volunteers up to use newly purchased scythes and hay rakes in order to avoid using a motorised mower and give the wild flowers the best chance of thriving.
