Wildbrook Growing Hub, Oldham – Creating a community garden and growing hub (008010)

Wildbrook Growing Hub is a former community allotment being restored after 7 years closure it was derelict and vandalised. Restoration is undertaken by partnership of Oldham Councils Community Food Growing Project and Local Food First CIC with the ambition to bring it back to use and develop a thriving, productive Community Food and Growing Hub that benefits the wider community. Through volunteer action will increase knowledge and skills in food growing, cooking, learning and sustainability. Key aims for this project are to 1) do remediation work so food crops can be grown where contamination makes a significant area of site unsuitable for edible crops. 2) improve visitor facilities by installing infrastructure to provide growers, volunteers, residents, school and community groups with facilities to ensure their onsite needs are catered for, enabling all to benefit from the site and activities offered.
