Wildflowers for the Meadows – Beacon Fell

This project aims to produce hundreds of wildflower plug plants grown from seed collected in Bowland special hay meadows at Bell Sykes, Slaidburn. In turn these will be used to enhance the hay meadow at Beacon Fell, through volunteer-led propagation and planting of purpose grown plug plants from that seed . The project aims to create a sustainable future for our wildflowers as we will work with Beacon Fell volunteers who will be trained and supported. We will create a series of mini films based on our seed collection and growing training courses, which will act as a permanent and shared resource for the future. In addition, seed from the meadows at Bell Sykes will be used to restore the hay meadow at Stonyfold Farm, on the flanks of Beacon Fell, ensuring the network of species rich sites continues to grow.
