Wildflowers for the Meadows – Dale Head Parish

This project aims to produce hundreds of wildflower plug plants grown from seed collected in Bowland hay meadows and verges. In turn these will be used to enhance the hay meadows at Stephen Park through volunteer-led propagation and planting of purpose grown plug plants from locally collected wildflower seed . We will also contract a number of local social enterprise nurseries to grow plug plants from our seed, thus assisting their future economic viability. The project will also use seed from the same sources, Black House Farm and Dalehead Churchyard, to restore the adjacent meadow at Lower Stony Bank Farm. The project aims to create a sustainable future for our wildflowers as we will work with community groups (Ribblesdale Rotary Club) and children from local schools in the Clitheroe area, who will be trained and supported. We will create a series of mini films based on our seed collection and growing training courses, which will act as a permanent and shared resource for the future.
