Wirral Christian Centre, Birkenhead – Oxton Gateway Restoration (5916/D)

This project relates to urgent high level repairs essential to the up keep of the restored Gateway Hub so it can be accessed by the local community. The roof edge finials to the main hall of the Victorian Grade II listed Gateway building are showing signs of general instability and several finials are visibly loose or very badly damaged. This work is urgent and important as each finial is above or close to one of the main entrances to the refurbished building; their further dilapidation constitute the main threat to the building. The work will include repairs to four roof edge pinnacles, re – bedding the main roof parapet copings including associated lead work, repairs to parapet support masonry, high level stone repair to main hall and high level stone re-pointing.

The Trust grant is a contribution towards the building repair works.
