Wivenhoe Mede Way Children’s Park: Inclusive Refurbishment for SEN Children, Wivenhoe Town Council, Colchester

This project is for the renovation and repair of the Mede Way children’s park in Wivenhoe

This will involve restoring the current children’s park, but also transforming it into a more inclusive and sensory-friendly space. The existing equipment, while serving its purpose, is now aged and dated, necessitating a comprehensive replacement. The project proposes to go beyond simply upgrading the equipment by catering to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and ensuring inclusivity for all users. In addition to the traditional play structures, the park will introduce new sensory boards and a nesting swing, creating an environment accommodating a wider range of sensory experiences.
