Wolsingham Wayfarers

The Wolsingham Wayfarers conserve the environment, mainly using volunteers, for the benefit of the public and to educate the public in the principles and practice of conservation.
The area of Demesne Mill is an important recreational area. Until this year it was run by Durham CC for use as a picnic area. During DCC’s tenure only limited maintenance was undertaken and much of the site became overgrown, including the riverside area known as The Sills.
The project aims to restore the area to a high quality countryside recreation area, through environmental refurbishment, and building on the success of the existing Family Walk (a fully disabled accessible circular walk threading Wolsingham), by extending this facility northwards alongside The Sills, from its current route through Demesne Mill.
