Women of the Battle of Britain: uncovering the hidden histories of women during World War II

This exhibition will bring to life the stories of women in the Battle of Britain and the significant role they played at RAF Biggin Hill for new and wider audiences. We will use two interpretive themes.
The experience of women on the ground will be explored through the lives of three women in the WAAF and ATA.
The exhibition will enable us to create fresh content and add interpretive depth to our permanent
displays. For the first time in the museum’s history, we will create a new exhibition to centralise and amplify the stories of these women through a range of primary material (including objects, photographs, archival material, oral history recordings) and multi-media interactives (including immersive VR technology). The exhibition will create a new reason for local audiences including families to stay for longer, return for repeat visits and engage with new conversations
