Womens Institute Hut, Aughton - Roof Replacement and Insulation Installation (008489)

A replacement roof for the Aughton WI Hut. Following a storm in 2024 when we lost 6 panels off the hut roof it was explained by the company who repaired it, that the whole roof, now over 30 years old, was in a very poor state of repair. The majority of the bolts securing the remaining panels were badly corroded, and in its current condition we could lose the whole roof in another bad storm.
A big issue is: The WI Hut is sited very close to the busy Liverpool - Ormskirk railway line and we are extremely concerned that should another storm cause the panels to come off the roof again, depending on the direction of the wind, panels could land on top of the railway line, which could in turn be disastrous.
Subsequently we are urgently sourcing funding in order to both 1.Make this well used community asset sustainable for the future, 2. Prevent a potential disaster on the railway line 3, Greatly reduce our carbon footprint and our costs, allowing us to pass these savings onto our local groups
All the requirements for the re clad of the existing roof. Includes, scaffolding, removing & replacing the current roofing sheets, plus fixings and sealants. New gutters and downpipes. The current roof is not insulated. The new includes insulation.
