‘Wooden it be Wilder: Restoring Habitats at Cromers Wood’

Cromer Wood is ancient semi natural woodland which supports a variety of BAP species, which is being encroached by non-native sweet chestnut. This project aims to: - fell and clear one acre of chestnut and five large eucalyptus trees to encourage greater biodiversity. - Install 55 dormice, owl and bat boxes, and adapt veteran trees where appropriate - Coppice and pollard 400 meters of woodland edge and clear the roadside boundary - Create and extend the existing ride network to encourage biodiversity - Clear and restore 1000square meters of pond habitat to enhance aquatic and wetland species
