Woodhouse Compound Millenium Green Trust

The Compound Millennium Green has been a green space since 2000. It is surrounded on 3 sides by housing and is within one of Whitehaven's most disadvantaged neighbourhoods. The site is owned by Home Housing Group who will maintain and inspect the new facilities. Since 2000 the site has fallen into disrepair and is now the site of dog fouling and fly tipping. Equipment has been removed due to its poor state. The site and its footpaths continue to be used by the local community. After consultation with the local community, including children and young people, it has been decided to completely redevelop the site. This project will improve drainage and aims to create the area into a central recreational space with modern facilities for all ages, including play equipment and a MUGA. The project will complement an extensive housing regeneration project being carried out in Woodhouse by Home Housing Group. The project was highlighted by local adults and young people and planned with their help.
