Woods in and Around Towns (WIAT) Countesswells – Hazelhead Link

This is an important link between Hazlehead and Countesswells and was proposed as part of the WIAT scheme and forms part of the draft Core Path Network for the city.
The path will create a key off road route out of the city which will be suitable for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. At present it is used informally with a low level of use. It is hoped that by providing improved publicity, signage and surfacing it will become a well used route. It has the full support of Cults, Bieldside and Milltimber Community Council.
The project will entail creating a new link path along an existing desire line on Aberdeen City Council property at Hazlehead Woods; clearing c.300 metres of broom and gorse in woodland and upgrading a farm track through drainage and surfacing.
