Woods Mill Stream Restoration

The Woods Mill Stream is a deepened and straightened river channel that is of low value for wildlife. It is also on a site where the Trust has a major environmental education programme underway (3,500 schoolchildren/year) and one of the Trust’s most heavily visited nature reserves (some 25,000/year).

The project will create a completely new river channel, complete with meanders, pools and riffles, as well as gently sloping banks that will enable the river to flood its floodplain much more frequently. The project will also result in the complete overhaul of the on-site interpretation.
