Working Wetlands – Rebuilding the Biodiversity of Devon’s Culm Grasslands

To restore and recreate Culm Grasslands at multiple locations in North Devon, initiating a landscape- scale approach for this severly theatened habitat. The project will focus on three identified Culm grassland ‘ Heartlands’. These three areas have the greatest combinations of remaining Culm grassland habitats. This project will work on existing Dorset Wildlife Trust Culm grassland Nature Reserves to act as hubs to build larger swathes of prime -quality Culm. Degraded habitat will be identified for restoration and sites with low biodiversity value prioritised for habitat re -creation. The project will also identify appropriate land within these regions to purchase and restore to Culm grassland.
