WWT Welney - floodplain grazing marsh and water supply creation

Lying on the Ouse Washes, WWT Welney is a SSSI, SAC, SPA and internationally recognised Ramsar Wetland. Our project will create 40 ha of floodplain grazing marsh as part of the successful Lady Fen complex at Welney - contributing to a 118 ha habitat mosaic, adjacent to the Ouse Washes, which lies outside the flood zone and will be of vital importance for wintering wildfowl and breeding waders. The project will also create a greener and more reliable water supply system feeding all 118 ha.
