Wyming Brook – woodland and heath

Wyming Brook nature reserve is a diverse site, ranging from Pennine crags at the top, through heathland and down the valley to rich woodland at the foot, with an equally diverse population of insects and birds. We would like to carry out some work to enhance one section of woodland near the top of the reserve to improve the habitat for biodiversity. We will link this to improvement work to the adjacent heathland/woodland fringe, including scalloping the woodland edge to promote the insects that underpin the woodland ecosystem and removing bracken and birch to encourage ground-nesting birds.
