Wyre Forest Landscape Partnership Scheme – Rejuvenating Traditional Orchards, Special Trees and Ancient Hedgerows

The project will improve and provide an important mosaic habitat for a range of rare and threatened species in the Wyre Forest National Nature Reserve. Focusing on 7,200 hectares mainly comprising lowland wood- pasture and parkland (the lead habitat), veteran trees will be surveyed and managed, and some 10,000 trees planted to create links to main woodland areas. In addition, 10km of species- rich hedgrerows will be restored, whilst a number of fragmented and neglected traditional orchards dispersed through the lead hatitat area will be surveyed and sensitively restored.
