The grant sought is to support the enrichment of habitats to support greater biodiversity in the nature area at Skelton Grange Centre in Leeds, and to raise public awareness of its value. The plan is to support Pond, Hedgerow & river & Environs Habitat Action Plans, and Hedgehog, Soprano Pipstrelle Bat, House Sparrow, Starling, Bullfinch and common Toad Species Action Plans. The works carried out to conserve, restore and enhance those habitats and species would involve the maintenance and improvement of ponds, hedgerows, grasslands & meadows and boggy areas and the creation of shelters and boxes to support animal species. The work would include specific planting to encourage & sustain a diverse range of flora and fauna and activity to disrupt succession to woodland on parts of the site to maintain its current diversity mosaic pattern and higher levels of biodiversity. The applicants would also extend the fully accessible path network.
