ENTRUST Chair to retire

3 Apr 2014

After over 12 years service Dr Philip Smith will be retiring from the ENTRUST Board in July 2014. Philip took over as the Company’s Chairman in 2008 and since that time has been responsible for refocusing ENTRUST and creating stability including the relocation of its offices, which has resulted in the organisation successfully delivering a major transformational programme.

Taking over from Philip is Dr Ann Limb OBE DL, currently a Non-Executive Director on the ENTRUST Board. Ann is a business leader and social entrepreneur and was previously Chief Executive of the University for Industry, responsible with the Departments for Education and for Business, Innovation and Skills for setting up learndirect, UK online, DirectGov and unionlearn.

Announcing the appointment Christopher Welford, ENTRUST Chief Executive said: ‘I would like to thank Philip for his commitment and enthusiasm in leading ENTRUST through a major transformational change programme. It is clear to me that without his professionalism and support the transformation that ENTRUST has undergone during his tenure as Chairman would not have been so successful. This and the changes he has successfully led and we have implemented over the last five years will be his legacy.

Following Philip’s retirement the Company has been lucky in securing Ann’s move into the Chairmanship of the Board. Ann has considerable experience in leading a number of high performing organisations across a diverse range of sectors. I am confident that Ann will use her considerable experience and knowledge to build upon the legacy left by Philip.
