Projects / Rehabilitation of Heaton Mersey Reservoir

Rehabilitation of Heaton Mersey Reservoir

To create a fully accessible angling and educational facility within the newly created Mersey Valley Nature Park. The 1.3 acre reservoir and wooded surrounds will provide an ideal teaching facility for local groups. The level nature of the site is ideal for the creation of fully accessible footpaths and platforms that will enable all members of the community to safely access the facility. The project will include removal of deep exposed silt and re- lining works. Native aquatic plants will be installed along the margins to provide additional habitat. An island feature will be constructed to provide sanctury for breeding aquatic waterfowl. Path and platform construction will be to British Disabled Angling Association specifications.
