Broadmead Woodland

Broadmead Rec is a multi-function park serving as an important flood storage basin for the area and recreation/leisure space for the surrounding area. The area total is 28,640 m2. Winn Brook which flows along the eastern boundary break its banks and floods onto the park, this flood storage capacity is incredibly important in managing high water flows and protecting property in the area from flooding. This important function means the park is currently just a large expanse of amenity cut grass with very few trees. There are no facilities or items of park furniture on-site. The aim is to plant 7,500 trees to add much needed biodiversity and interest to the site as well as help with flood storage capacity.
